John C. Corbin, 79, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford. He was born on July 28, 1932, in Rome, the son of John and Katherine Carlile Corbin. He was a graduate of Oriskany High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from Utica College. On September 12, 1970, John was united in marriage to Carol Schiller in Rome. Carol passed away on September 22, 2011.
John was employed by Griffiss Air Force Base for thirty-eight years, retiring on July 1, 1993.
He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1952 to 1954.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Church and the B.P.O.E. Rome Lodge No. 96.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Kathy Corbin, II, of Essex Junction, VT, and James Corbin, of Charlotte, NC; a step-son, David Money, of Rome; and a beloved granddaughter, Kaitlyn Corbin. John was predeceased by two sisters, and a brother, James Corbin.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
