Helmetless man hurt on ATV

TOWN OF WATSON — A man was injured when he rolled his all-terrain vehicle several times on Wetmore Road Sunday.

The victim was not wearing a helmet, which contributed to his injuries, Lewis County Sheriff’s deputies said.

Thomas Peebles, 33, of 6943 Wetmore Road, was riding his ATV behind his home at 2:58 p.m. when he lost control and rolled over multiple times before coming to rest against a tree. The vehicle ended up on top of Peebles, deputies said. He was able to call 9-1-1 from a cell phone located in his pocket. No one was home at the time of the accident and Peebles was riding alone. Lewis County Search and Rescue responded and treated Peebles at the scene for multiple abrasions to his head and body, and possible internal injuries, deputies said. He was listed in stable condition at Lewis County General Hospital.
