Two local business have been given Small Business Excellence Awards by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the New York Business Development Corp.
Berkshire Bank nominated Teddy’s of Rome, owned by Brian Miller, Carlos Moran and Lori Bruno. Teddy’s of Rome is a restaurant with catering services. The restaurant was renovated in 2009 and expanded into 4,300 square feet of space with seating for 195 customers. The three owners have diverse experience in the restaurant service industry and have worked in a variety of positions at Teddy’s since the mid-1990s. Teddy’s is a family operation, with each of the management team’s spouses also working in key positions at the restaurant.
The Women’s Business Center of NYS nominated The DeClutter Coach, owned by Deborah J. Cabral. Cabral launched her company in 2010. Growing demand has led to the rapid expansion of the business to include DC Efficiency Consulting, Organization Motivation!, and Organized in :60 Seconds.
As a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers, Cabral lends her knowledge of professional productivity, efficiency, time management and organization to residential and corporate clients through one-on-one consultations, community workshops, corporate presentations and a weekly television show.
Small businesses are selected for the Excellence Awards based on longevity, innovation, sales growth, increased employment, ability to overcome adversity or community contributions.
