Karen A. Wiley, 48, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at her home with her loving family at her side. She was born on May 28, 1963, in Rome, the daughter of Carlton and Catherine Underwood Russell. She attended Rome schools.
She was employed by several area nursing homes for many years, retiring due to disability.
She was a member of Resurrection Life Church. Karen had a passion for fishing and was a member of the Hawger Bass Club.
Surviving besides her mother, Catherine Russell, of Rome; are a son and daughter-in-law, James and Teresa Russell, of Rome; four sisters, Loretta Kay and Bow Tonner, of Rome, Crystal and Richard Evans, of Westmoreland, Lonnie Johnson, of Rome, and Cathy and James Millson, of Verona; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carlton and Faline Russell, of Westernville, and Kevin and Lori Russell, of Rome; one special little girl, Jaelynn; four godchildren, Joseph Waters, Desarae Wright, Tatianna Cotto, and Wilfredo Cotto; special neighbors, Steve and Barb; and several nieces and nephews. Karen was predeceased by a dear friend, Carlos Monet.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Family and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
