New school district treasurer welcomed by superintendent

The Rome school district’s new treasurer, David Dreidel, will begin his job on May 17, said Board of Education clerk Christine Esposito Wednesday night when the board approved his appointment to the $65,000 position.

Dreidel, who was at the meeting, was welcomed to the district by Superintendent Jeffrey P. Simons. He has been a senior accountant with the Testone, Marshall & Discenza accounting firm of Syracuse.

Dreidel succeeds Diane A. DeLude, who was dismissed as treasurer by the board on March 7. The treasurer position reports to the board, and works closely with the district director of business and finance.
