RFA hands Liverpool first loss

The Rome Free Academy junior varsity softball team improved its record to 10-4 by coming up with a 9-8 triumph over previously undefeated Liverpool in eight innings.

Dana Glantz and Alyssa Fazio led the Rome offense by going 2-for-4 at the plate with Glantz hitting two triples and Fazio recording a single and triple to start a four-run rally in the bottom of the eighth inning.

With two outs, Brianna Coia hit a single to score Paige Plumley for the tying run, and Courtney Fiorenza then belted the game-winning RBI triple to bring home Coia.

Fazio also went the distance on the mound to record the win while striking out eight.

Westmoreland softball falls

In other junior varsity softball action, Westmoreland dropped to a 21-13 setback from Cooperstown.

Morgan Barber and Tiffany Spado led the Lady Bulldogs with three hits apiece as Kady Moran added two hits, including a triple, and Kaleigh Maxson recorded a double.

Oriskany tops Remsen

The Oriskany modified softball squad picked up its second win of the season on a 18-14 decision over visiting Remsen.

Keely Wroblewski batted 4-for-4 and had five RBIs for the 2-1 Lady Redskins. Erin Carlo captured her second win on the bump and also hit a double and scored four runs at the plate.
