Emma D. Marsh, 90, of New Hartford, formerly of Lee Center, passed away, Friday, April 27, 2012 in CNY Presbyterian Home. She was born June 19, 1921, in Rome the daughter of William and Frieda Sattler Bowers. Emma was educated in Rome schools.
On July 12, 1941, she married Herbert E. Marsh in St. Mary’s Church in Rome. He passed away January 1, 1994.
While in Lee Center she was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Lee Center, the Womens Club and the Lee Unity Seniors. Emma was well known for her baking, especially her banana bread and apple chip squares.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Kenneth Wittman, New Hartford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Deborah Marsh, Syracuse; Edward and Gail Marsh, Rome; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Frieda and William Hickey, Rome; Evelyn Horn, Remsen; one brother, John (Jack) Bowers, Rome; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Cristal) Wittman, Suzanne (Dave) Spado, Becky Wittman and Mark Benoit, Karen Marsh and Paul Isom, Sarah (Paul) Szotek, Derek (Kimberly) Marsh and Justin Marsh; nine great-grandchildren, David Jr., Brandi and Tiffany Spado, Carson and Cooper Szotek, Cohen and Holden Marsh, Nicole and Michael Wittman; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Kathryn Hoffmeister, Margaret Murphy, Elizabeth Ernst, and a brother, Paul Bowers.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:15 a.m. at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome and 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Lee Center where a Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James D. Tormey.
Interment will take place in Crown Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
