



Rome Free Academy hosted the 2012 Elementary All-County Music Festival special concert Saturday evening.
Students rehearsed Friday and Saturday at RFA before the concert.
Students performing in choir, band and orchestra represented schools from throughout Oneida County.
The orchestra, conducted by Shawn Hawley, strings teacher at John F. Kennedy Middle School and General Herkimer and Jefferson elementary schools in Utica, performed "Rondo" from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by W. A. Mozart;
Also, "Along the River" by Elena Roussanova Lucas; and "Jump," words and music by the rock band Van Halen.
The band was directed by Hilary Nawoj, music teacher at Clinton Central School, and performed Andromeda Overture, arranged by Mark Williams;
Also, themes from Star Wars Episode 3 "Revenge of the Sith," by John Williams; Korean Folk Rhapsody, arranged by James Curnow; and "Back to the 50s," by Michael Green.
Choir was directed by Ryan Decker, elementary, junior and senior high school choral director and general music teacher at Sauquoit Valley Central School.
The choir performed "The Dream Keeper" from the Trilogy of Dreams, by Rollo A. Dilworth; "Consider Yourself!" from Oliver, by Lionel Bart; The Drinking Gourd traditional spiritual; and Ching a Ring Chaw, arranged by Linda Spevacek.
