Elizabeth A. Herr, 93, of Rome, NY, and formerly of Camp Hill and Millerstown, PA, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, April 7, 2012. She was born September 21, 1918, in Williamsport, PA, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth McVaugh Dauman. She was a graduate of Harrisburg Catholic High School. On February 18, 1939, she married Edwin F. Herr. He passed away in 2001.
Libby was the first Director of Volunteers at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, PA, until her retirement in 1989. She was very active in several volunteer organizations and activities. She was also a member of St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church in New Bloomfield, PA.
Libby’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and aides at Colonial Park Nursing Home in Rome for the care and compassion shown to her in her time of need.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edwin W. and Joan Herr, Sr., of Rome; three grandchildren, Maureen Herr Marks, of Durham, NC, Joanne (Brooks) Lieske, of Fredericksburg, VA, and Edwin W. (Christine) Herr, Jr., of Apex, NC; four beloved great-grandchildren, Dustin and Lauren Lieske, and Edwin J. and Sarah Herr; cherished nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Herr and Betty Herr, both of PA. She was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Carden, and a brother, William Dauman.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday 11:00 a.m., April 14, 2012, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 811 Sherman Valley Rd., New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania where a Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Robert Sharman. Burial will be held at Mitchell Cemetery, Millerstown, PA.
