William G. Turner, 61, of Rome, passed away on April 6, 2012. He was born in Rome on March 22, 1951, the son of Frederick and Ella Brower Turner. Bill spent his youth in the Lee Center area and received his education in the Adirondack schools. On October 7, 1972, he married Susan Secor in Lee Center, a blessed union of nearly 40 years.

He always had animals around the house and even raised a baby squirrel that was orphaned. Family meant everything to Bill, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He treasured all these roles and made time for all.
Bill was employed by Pyrotech as a mold maker until his health forced his early retirement. He also worked for many years for Tree Preservation as a young man. Bill was a member of LDMA and GPAA.
Surviving are his wife Susan, two daughters, Mary Kay and Michael Weber of Sylvan Beach and Christie Turner and Stephen Kline of Williamstown; two sons, Shawn and Michele Benjamin, Westdale and Francis "Benji" Benjamin and Christina Race of Rome; son-in-law Michael Laribee of Lee Center; brother Dale and Colleen Turner of Lee Center and brother-in-law David Morczek.
