The second annual James Blackshear Memorial Prayer Luncheon will take place at noon on Wednesday in the Radisson Hotel in downtown Utica.

Hope Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church and the Kiwanis Club of Utica are sponsoring event to honor former community leader James Blackshear and unite residents in a spirit of partnership.

Tickets are $20 per person, or $160 for a table of eight available by calling 798-5908.

Funds raised help support the James Blackshear Scholarships for local disadvantaged young people to attend college.
