John Carro, 74, formerly of Rome, N.Y., passed away January 10, 2012, in Phoenix, Ariz. after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born June 28, 1937 to Patsy and Molly Carro in Rome, N.Y., he attended Rome City Schools. He was an altar boy at St. John the Baptist Church and was a member of the local plumber and steam fitters union. John was a member of the Italian American Club in Rome and Phoenix. John married JoAnn Gallo on February 1, 1958 in Rome, N.Y. and had two children. She passed away December 2004. John married Judy Wiederrick on June 16, 1973 in Rome, N.Y. They had a blessed marriage for 38 years. John loved bowling, bocce, and fishing.
Surviving are his wife Judy; his son, John Jr.; daughter Sandra and son-in-law Brock White; two grandsons, Brock and Brandon White; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Shirley Carro; sister Dolores DeCarolis; sister-in-law Claire Carro; a special nephew Samuel DeCarolis; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Patsy (Bones) Carro, a sister Philamina Carro, brother-in-law Andrew DeCarolis, and his step-daughter April Herzog-Alzardo. He will be missed by all who knew him.
