State Office of General Services Commissioner RoAnn M. Destito of Rome will present the highlights of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s State of the State address at 6:30 tonight, just before the Common Council meeting at City Hall. She will then open the floor for a question-and-answer session.
Mayor Joseph R. Fusco Jr. attended the governor’s address last week in Albany and thanked Cuomo for including Rome in his statewide attempt to reach out to as many communities as possible with his message. "We are very fortunate to be able to hear firsthand from Commissioner RoAnn Destito what Gov. Cuomo’s plans for 2012 are both statewide and regionally and I would like to thank the governor for the chance to provide input at the local level," said Fusco. "This is a great opportunity for those of us in Rome and the surrounding areas to listen, ask questions and share our thoughts with the Governor’s office. RoAnn’s knowledge and experience with local and regional issues is a tremendous asset and I am looking forward to her presentation and the opportunity to discuss matters of importance with her."
The presentation is open to the public. The regular meeting of the council will follow at 7 p.m.
