MADISON — The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill girls basketball team got ahead with a six-point lead at the half and soared away to a 65-35 triumph over hosting Madison during the Madison Christmas Tournament on Thursday.

Paige Zupan scored 15 points to lead the Lady Red Devils to tonight’s championship round at 5:45, while Leane Doolen contributed with 10 points. Codie Bayeur made nine points and Claire Richardson had eight points. Marisa Randall also made a three-point basket and scored six points.

The Lady Red Devils moved to 5-3 overall after the victory.
