@Body.10. no-hyphen:Edna A. Morba, 85, of Rome, passed away November 29, 2011, in Rome Memorial Hospital after an illness. She was born May 4, 1926, in Little Falls, NY, the daughter of Ludwig and Jessie Nicholson Albrecht. She was a graduate of Gloversville High School, Class of 1944. The day after graduation, she took a train to Washington, DC to work at the Pentagon as a typist during World War II. While living in Washington, she met the love of her life, Andrew J. (Andy) Morba while he was serving in the United States Navy. On November 22, 1947, they were married in Gloversville, N.Y. and shared a blessed union of 57 years. Andrew passed away December 26, 2004.
Edna worked for several years at Jervis Library in Rome and was an active volunteer with American Literacy Program teaching children and adults how to read. She was also a member and past Secretary of the Mohawk Valley Porcelain Artists and was an accomplished porcelain Artist. In her younger days, she was a musician and was quite talented playing the Hawaiian guitar.
Mrs. Morba is survived by her beloved children: her daughter, Linda Loucy and her companion, James Girouard, of Rome; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas and Mary Morba, of Glenville, NY, John Morba, of Orlando, FL, and Christopher Morba, of Rome; three granddaughters, Arlene, Catherine, and Caroline; and two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Ryleigh. Edna was predeceased by a sister, Delores Stewart.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, and St. Mary’s Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 p.m.
