Accused of theft

LOWVILLE — A domestic dispute in a Lewis County Wal-Mart parking lot led to charges for a Boonville man Tuesday morning.

Sheriff’s deputies said Timothy M. Stanford II, 26, of 147 Ford St., was in an argument with his estranged wife in the store parking lot at 11:30 a.m. Deputies said Stanford reached into his wife’s vehicle and took her cell phone, then refused to give it back until he could finish what he had to say to her.

Deputies said Stanford then stuffed the phone into his pocket, ran to his friend’s vehicle and then fled the parking lot. Stanford was charged with petty larceny.
