Stephen M. LaPointe, 20, of Rome, went home to the Lord tragically on Tuesday, September 27, 2011. He was born on October 29, 1990, in Syracuse. Stephen received his education in the Rome schools. Stephen enjoyed his music, but his passion was in his drawing. Armed with a pen, pencil, paper and his imagination, there were no boundaries for his drawings.
Stephen is survived by his Mom and Dad, Theresa A. LaPointe and Craig A. Smith, of Rome; his father, Sheldon R. Brown of Kingston, NY; brothers, Sheldon R. Brown, III and Nicholas W. LaPointe, both of Rome, Jaden Brown and Xavier Brown, both of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Amber Brown of NJ and Shayla Brown of Atlanta, GA; maternal grandfather, Karl A. Kotary, Floyd; maternal grandmother, Barbara Harshaw; and paternal grandmother, Shelia Brown of Kingston, NY. Also surviving are a special aunt, Becky Maxfield and family, along with aunts Michelle Kotary, NC; Denise Owens, Shelly Brown, Angela Kindard and Jean Brown, all of Atlanta; and Sheila Brown of Rome; niece Keana, nephew Kaiden; very special friend, Cassandra Robbins and his Little Buddy, Anthony.
Stephen was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Sherry A. Kotary and his paternal grandfather, Sheldon J. Brown.
The family would like to thank Rome Hospital for their valiant effort to save Stephen, and to all the friends and family for their outpouring of love and compassion.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at the Strong and Burns Funeral Home, 401 N. George St. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. prior to the services.
