Two members of the Rome Free Academy baseball team are among the first-team selections on the Central New York Counties League National Division all-star team selected by league coaches.

Seniors Tim Abone and Jeremy Seaton were first-team picks for the Black Knights, while junior Brandon Bertrand and sophomore Robbie Waller were named second-team all-stars.

Other first-team all-star members included Patrick Brown, Alex Caruso, Mike Parson and Shane Peake from Liverpool; Steve Sarcone, Ryan Donovan and Cesar Pujals from Utica; John Howell, Brian Hamilton and Matt Dykeman from Cicero-North Syracuse; Danny Dubiel and Gabe Levanti from Baldwinsville and Jeremy Mathers from Henninger High of Syracuse.

Rome reached the quarterfinals of the Section III Class AA playoffs, losing to eventual sectional champion Auburn.

RFA coach Mike Davis on his first-team all-stars:

¿ Tim Abone: "Tim is very versatile in the infield, playing third, second and first for us. He’s very athletic, defensively he’s our best infielder, and he’s consistent at the plate. He’s a very smart heads up type of player that can do just about everything for us."

Abone finished with a .394 batting average, a .449 on-base percentage, and a slugging percentage of .437 and hit three doubles and 13 RBIs. He also held a 1-3 record as a pitcher.

¿ Jeremy Seaton: "Jeremy was a smooth hitter batting in the fourth spot and only had seven strikeouts during the season. He’s a good contact hitter, and also a good outfielder after committing only one error on defense. Overall, he’s a good, solid player that you can depend on that can hit the ball for us."

Seaton wrapped up his season with a .418 average, a .527 slugging percentage and a .508 on-base percentage, while hitting four doubles, a triple and nine RBIs.
