Accused of slugging another man in the face at Lupia’s bar early Sunday, a 25-year-old man was sent to county jail on $10,000 cash bail or bond.
Joseph R. Fiorenza II, of 504 W. Dominick St., pleaded not guilty before City Court Judge John C. Gannon Monday to third-degree assault and first-degree contempt. His case was adjourned for a felony exam to March 3.
Police said at 2 a.m. Feb. 28, Fiorenza punched a 21-year-old man in the face at Lupia’s bar on East Dominick Street, breaking a tooth and causing a bloody lip. Police said Fiorenza had been court-ordered to stay away from the man due to ongoing problems.
Also in City Court:
• Scott W. Beavers, 19, of 609 W. Dominick St., pleaded guilty to second-degree harassment, reduced from first-degree. A charge of second-degree menacing was dismissed. His case was adjourned to March 17.
Police said at 3:56 a.m. Nov. 23, Beavers drove by a 28-year-old man’s Calvert Street residence and threatened to shoot or stab him. Police said Beavers also pointed a long-barrel BB gun at the man’s aunt when she went out to investigate.
• David L. Rienzo III, 21, of 503 Calvert St., was ordered to pay a $250 fine, $120 surcharge and was granted a one-year conditional discharge on one count of second-degree harassment. A charge of third-degree assault was dismissed.
Police said at 5:20 p.m. Sept. 7, Rienzo repeatedly punched a 19-year-old man outside his residence. In a statement to police, the victim said he pulled out a BB gun to protect himself after Rienzo attacked him. In his own statement, Rienzo said the man pulled out the gun first, and he was only reacting to what he thought was a real gun.
• Gerald B. Johnson III, 21, of 418 1/2 Ann St., was sentenced to five days of the offender work program, ordered to pay a $120 surcharge and was granted a one-year conditional discharge on one count of disorderly conduct.
Police said at 1:09 a.m. July 3, Johnson refused to stop shouting obscenities in the 100 block of Erie Blvd. West.
