15 years in jail for sexual abuse of 6-year-old girl

A Rome man who admitted to sexually abusing a 6-year-old girl will spend the next 15 years behind bars.

Andrew Seigler, 22, of 606 N. Washington St., was sentenced by County Court Judge Barry M. Donalty Nov. 23 to 15 years in prison, followed by 15 years of post-release supervision, and was ordered to pay $1,425 in court fees on a charge of first-degree criminal sexual act.

According to court documents, Seigler had sexual contact with a 6-year-old girl from July through August in Rome.

Also in County Court:

• Raymond A. Provencal, 32, of 8189 Turin Road, pleaded guilty before Judge Donalty Nov. 24 to second-degree rape and first-degree disseminating indecent material to a minor. His cases were adjourned for sentencing to Jan. 19.

Police said on May 17, Provencal used a cell phone to send a naked picture of himself to a 16-year-old girl, and also left her lewd voice messages.

• David Keyte, 23, of 52 Brett St., Verona, pleaded guilty before Judge Donalty Nov. 25 to third-degree criminal sexual act. His case was adjourned for sentencing to Jan. 13.

The indictment said from July 2008 through May 2009, Keyte had sex with a 16-year-old girl in various locations, including Floyd. The indictment said Keyte also gave the teen-ager alcohol and struck her during that time.

• Amanda M. Schultz, 19, of 7757 New Floyd Road, pleaded guilty before Judge Michael L. Dwyer Nov. 19 to second-degree rape. Her case was adjourned for sentencing to Jan. 8.

According to court documents, Schultz had sex with a 14-year-old boy in Floyd on Aug. 8.

• Charles L. Case Jr., 30, of 8629 Route 365, Stittville, was sentenced by Judge Donalty Nov. 25 to 3 1/2 years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision, and ordered to pay $1,425 in court fees on a charge of second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child.

According to court documents, Case had sexual contact with an 11-year-old girl in Floyd from July 2004 through January 2005.

• James M. Gheen II, 21, of 44 Glenridge Road, Whitesboro, pleaded guilty before Judge Donalty Nov. 25 to possession of a sexual performance by a child. His case was adjourned for sentencing to Jan. 15.

According to court documents, Gheen was found with child pornography on his home computer in Whitestown on May 6.

• Marvin F. Franz, 26, of 135 W. North St., was sentenced by Judge Dwyer Nov. 18 to 1 1/3 to four years in prison on charges of first-degree contempt and second-degree menacing.

Police said Franz went to his ex-companion’s apartment at 2:19 p.m. Aug. 16 and pushed his way inside, despite being court-ordered to stay away. Once inside, police said he pulled out a folding pocket knife and threatened her because of an ongoing child custody dispute. The victim was able to escape her apartment and run next door to call 9-1-1, and police said Franz also threatened the woman’s neighbor.

• Dion Pugh, 36, of 606 W. Dominick St., pleaded guilty before Judge Dwyer Nov. 19 to third-degree sale of a controlled substance. His case was adjourned for sentencing to Jan. 19.

The indictment said on June 4, Pugh had and sold cocaine in Rome.

• Shane D. Carelli, 38, of 105 Liberty Gardens, pleaded not guilty before Judge Donalty Nov. 23 to two counts each of first-degree contempt and second-degree aggravated harassment. His case was adjourned to Dec. 22.

The indictment said on Sept. 30, Carelli twice telephoned his ex-companion in Rome, despite being court-ordered to leave her alone.

• Janee Brown, 22, of 614 Parry St., was sentenced by Judge Donalty Nov. 24 to one to three years in prison and ordered to pay $375 in court fees on a charge of fourth-degree grand larceny.

The indictment said on Aug. 19, Brown stole two desktop computers from Wal-Mart in New Hartford. The indictment said Brown also gave a fake name to police when she was stopped, and then struggled with officers when they attempted to put her into a patrol car.

• Daniel Chase, 16, of 8 Ripley Drive, Camden, pleaded guilty before Judge Donalty Nov. 24 to second-degree possession of a weapon. His case was adjourned for sentencing to Jan. 5.

Police said a .22-caliber pistol was found in Chase’s motor vehicle during a high school football game. Authorities said the weapon had been stolen sometime over the summer.

• Paul E. Boucher, 21, of 9830 Glenmore Road, Annsville, pleaded guilty before Judge Dwyer Nov. 14 to second-degree forgery. His case was adjourned to drug court.

According to court documents, Boucher forged another person’s name on a $300 check in Annsville on Sept. 15.

• Joseph F. Amberg, 24, of 1417 Schuyler St., pleaded not guilty before Judge Dwyer Nov. 25 to one count each of first and second-degree assault. His case was adjourned for report to Dec. 9. The indictment said on Oct. 1, Amberg slammed another man against the pavement in a parking lot in Utica.

• William King, 50, of 502 W. Park St., pleaded guilty before Judge Dwyer Nov. 25 to third-degree sale of a controlled substance. His case was adjourned for sentencing to Jan. 13.

The indictment said King had cocaine in Rome on June 4.

• Stevanee Aregano, 20, of 104 Seneca Ave., Oneida, pleaded guilty before Judge Donalty Nov. 25 to second-degree robbery. Her case was adjourned for sentencing to Jan. 22.

• Lawrence White, 28, no address available, pleaded guilty before Judge Donalty Nov. 25 to first-degree robbery. His case was adjourned for sentencing to Jan. 22.

The indictment said on June 5, White and Aregano used a .25-caliber handgun to steal cash from a man in Verona. The indictment said White also fired the gun towards several fleeing people.
