TOWN OF DANUBE — A couple who barricaded themselves in their mobile home following a domestic dispute resolved the matter with troopers after almost five hours of negotiations Tuesday.
State Police at Herkimer responded to a report of a dispute at a mobile home park at about 7:50 a.m. Later it was learned that Michael Grogan, 28, chased Shannon Shorer, 26, around the park and then went back inside the residence. Neither would respond to troopers when they arrived.
A perimeter was established, and both refused to leave the residence or speak to law enforcement, denying a domestic incident had occurred, troopers said.
Hostage negotiators were able to make contact with the couple. At approximately 10:45 a.m., Shorer left the residence denying any criminal act had occurred. Grogan continued to refuse cooperation in the investigation. Then at 12:30 p.m. Grogan voluntarily left the residence without incident.
The residence was checked for firearms, but none were found, troopers said. No arrests were made.
