Afghan plan is no plan

Back in 2008, President Obama declared the war in Afghanistan of vital national security interest. Then Obama said that the Bush administration left him no plan on Afghanistan even though they did the military research and proposed a sensible plan. Obama asked Bush not to announce it until Obama took office. This spring, Obama appointed General Stanley McCrystal to get the job in Afghanistan done, but dithered giving him the troops to do it.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press concludes that Obama drawing out the decision is to send messages to the Afghan government to clean up its act. If Obama is not going to address Afghanistan until corruption is addressed in the Karzai government, how does Obama propose to work with his own government? Pot. Meet kettle.

Obama’s administration is so deeply imbedded in corruption that it hands out ethics exceptions like candy mints, tolerates unparalleled campaign finance abuse, ignores jaw-dropping corrupt congressional leadership, turns a blind eye blind eye toward ACORN and the SEIU, lets Fannie Mae fire their own inspector general, makes unprofessional venal use of government funds, and created a Justice Department that could teach lessons to Richard Nixon.

Obama’s skill is to express platitudes, not principles so he can’t clearly state what is worth fighting for or why. He plays for power at home, not international stability. Deep in the bowels of his foreign policy lie the bankrupt "realistic" advisers like Zbigniew Brzezinski who made Jimmy Carter so ineffective that Ronald Reagan had to pick up the pieces. Now would be a good time for hope and change.
