Four firms are now consultants to provide technical services at Griffiss International Airport.
C&S Companies, North Syracuse, Clough Harbor & Associates, Albany, McFarland Johnson, Binghamton, and Plumley Engineering, Baldwinsville, will contend for contracts to work on projects at the airport over the next five years. The scope of work is broad, including building design, construction oversight, runway condition assessments and environmental studies. Only when a company works on a specific project does it get paid.
C&S had been the sole consultant for the last eight years — an arrangement that ended Oct. 31.
Upcoming projects at the airport include building an access road and constructing a terminal building, subject to receiving Federal Aviation Administration money.
Aviaition Commission W. Vernon Gray and his staff initially reviewed the submissions from nine firms. Gray then made his recommendation to pick four firms to the county executive. The Board of Legislators gave the final approval Oct. 25.
